The NEMSIS TAC has worked with EMS stakeholders to identify needed National Custom Elements to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. These custom elements are made available to EMS agencies and States in an effort to standardize the documentation and coding of recent travel and potential exposures related to an infectious disease, like COVID-19. The National Custom Elements may be found in the lower right-hand corner of the NEMSIS V3 Custom Element Library.
The 2018 NEMSIS Public-Release Research Dataset includes 22,532,890 EMS activations submitted by 9,599 EMS agencies serving 43 states and territories during the 2018 calendar year. The dataset does not contain information that identifies patients, EMS agencies, receiving hospitals, or reporting states. Click for more information on how to access the dataset.

Careful consideration of posted requests for revisions to the NEMSIS 3.4.0 standard began in early October, during the NEMSIS V3 Implementation meeting, and continue through bimonthly V3 Implementation webinars and NASEMSO Data Managers Committee calls.
